Emmert’s Seafood
About This Spot
Stepping into Emmert’s Seafood in Dayton feels a bit like being welcomed into a cherished neighborhood gathering — familiar, unpretentious, and warmly inviting. The modest, almost homestyle setting hints at a place where time slows down, encouraging guests to relax and savor not just their food but the company around them. Whether you're nestled inside or soaking in the relaxed vibes on the outdoor patio, it’s easy to settle in and lose track of the busy world outside.
The pace here hums with comfortable energy, alive with the soft chatter of families and friends sharing stories over steaming plates of freshly cracked crab. It’s a spot that embraces its maritime spirit without fuss, focusing on delivering hearty seafood experiences that feel as much about tradition as they do about flavor. The air carries a subtle salt-kissed promise—a reminder that this is a place to connect with Maryland’s treasured crab culture.
The menu unfolds like a familiar story told in the language of seafood—big, juicy crabs, tender crab cakes, and a rich variety of shellfish served with a casual confidence. You might find yourself drawn into the joy of peeling back a perfectly seasoned snow crab leg or savoring a bowl of comforting crab soup, each bite a small celebration of local waters and skilled hands in the kitchen. Alongside the seafood, touches like hush puppies and classic sides offer moments of balance and warmth.
Visitors often remark on the genuine friendliness of the staff and the communal atmosphere, with servers who seem to understand both the food and the stories that come with it. It’s the kind of place where a newcomer can feel like part of the family by the time dessert rolls around, and where repeat guests keep returning not just for the flavorful bounty but for the quietly joyful human connections that linger beyond the meal.

Everything was top notch, crabs were large, hot delicious. They accidentally gave our order to another table and gifted us 8 more huge crabs. Visiting family from Germany and it was their first experience eating them, as well as, Cole slaw, hush puppies and gigantic, incredibly delicious crab cakes. This place is super friendly, outside dining is like your back yard, which I loved. I will be going again and again. I've told so many people about this gem. Very affordable for seafood. Great menu choices, server was excellent and friendly.

I visiting this location on 01/01/26 and it was a great start to the new year. My cousin and myself are crab lovers and this place didn't disappoint! The crabs were large, very meaty and well seasoned! We definitely be back as this place has made second place. Give them a try.

I went with Mr., who is not a seafood eater and we both had an amazing experience. Crabs were amazing, pork chops were great. Service was amazing.

Food was great. My wife and I went for dinner. Service was a tad slow. The place was busy and it's not that big. It was someone's house I think. There's crabs but we just got entrees. My wife and I would come again. I'd make a reservation if you're going. The oysters were fresh. My wife liked her food too.

Must visit! I loved that the outdoor dining was fully covered. Everyone was welcoming. The service was a bit slow. The crabs were flavorful and huge. The hush puppies had the right amount of sweetness (note, the hush puppies have corn inside). The pricing was affordable.
